Zaki Nusseibeh: “Al Aïn was Sheikh Zayed’s favourite city” -- Standing International Magazine

June 2023 By Sarra Essouayeni, In Al Aïn (EAU)

If you were a season?

Spring – it signifies joy and freedom.

A country?

The United Arab Emirates for their constant engagement in human progress.

A woman?

Sheikha Fatima, Sheikh Zayed’s wife, a great lady who played a role politically and was very important socially.

 A town?

Al Aïn for its calm, its beauty, its oasis. It was also Sheikh Zayed’s favourite city.

A means of transport?

A sailboat for its moderate pace. I don't like speed. I prefer to enjoy the wind. And at least I couldn’t be blamed for the carbon footprint. Of course, I'm very concerned with climate change.

A beverage?

Coca-Cola, but unfortunately, it’s Diet Coke!

A dish?

Un saumon vapeur. Je fais attention à ma ligne. Je m’efforce de marcher chaque

A character trait?

Through experience, I hope to have become calm and wise. I always been optimistic though.

 A movie ?

I really like science fiction films like Dune directed by Denis Villeneuve. I also adore documentaries on great men who have left their mark on music or the history.

A book?

A collection of poetry in any language. Probably some passages by TS Eliot, my favourite poet. But also, Charles Baudelaire, Ezra Pound, Ali Ahmed Saïd - also known as Adonis, Nizar Qabbani or Pablo Neruda

Your favourite quality?

Moderation in everything. I like to be in the middle.

What is oppressive?

Cowardly and gratuitous wickedness.

Your first record?

Opera, Wagner.
